"Community" - Where We Write Technically

One of my favorite aspects of technical writing as a career is the way it lets me pick and choose -- and occasionally change -- where I live. Right now I'm enjoying the Simple Life in a very rural area near the Erie Canal in upstate New York. Not too many years ago I was running for the train in central Jersey, and as my bones keep getting older I'm liking the idea of a return to my family roots in Charleston, SC -- at least in the winter! But for now and for a while, it's very nice here.

These photos show my commute route last Thursday, after the storm that ended a 46-day drought. They were taken with a simple point-and-shoot digital camera and adjusted using Irfanview to test the effects of differing color saturations, sharpness, and contrast.
